Dr. Antônio F. Carvalho
My main research line is focused on the analysis of ecological processes and environmental events underlying the distribution pattern of genetic diversity in the Neotropical biota, with emphasis on Hymenoptera. Thus, I conduct studies in the interface between Ecology and Evolution. Currently, I monitor illegal wildlife trade (IWT) with special interest on the online markets from surface and the dark web and evaluate the impacts of such a market on biodiversity conservation. Furthermore, I evaluate the efficiency of the Atlantic Forest Conservation Units in the protection of threatened species by the Programa de Capacitação Institucional, Instituto Nacional da Mata Atlântica (MCTIC, Brazil).
